Earlier this month, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the Indiana State Police and members of the construction community announced Indiana’s kick off to the 2024 construction season. Construction activities for many of INDOT’s projects are expected to begin this spring/summer. Utility work as part of the Lloyd4U project is ongoing through much of the summer with construction activities beginning later this summer.

As work zones begin to appear along the Lloyd, it’s important to remember to obey the posted speed limit, move over to allow crews to work and take turns utilizing the zipper merge during peak travel times.

As we near construction on the Lloyd. Now is a great time to start preparing for the changes at major intersections later this year. Visit TheLloyd4U.com to view project maps, east and west side improvements and see where construction is expected. 

Improvements on the Lloyd Expressway include innovative solutions at many of the Lloyd’s major intersections such as Burkhardt Road, Cross Pointe Boulevard and Red Bank Road. 

TheLloyd4U plans to remove the traffic signals at the Lloyd Expressway and Vann Avenue intersection. By removing the traffic signals, it will increase efficiency and reduce the number of rear-end crashes on eastbound Lloyd Expressway. 

Construction will also remove left turns from the intersection making Vann Avenue right-in, right-out only. Future traffic patterns show gaps in traffic that will allow motorists to safely merge onto the Lloyd Expressway or across to the future displaced left turn at Stockwell Road.
