Travel Alert: Temporary Lane Closures During Median and Curb Upgrades
Motorists on the Lloyd Expressway should expect intermittent lane and turn restrictions at Stockwell Road over the next three weeks.
Traffic barricades will be put into place starting today, Thursday, June 11.
Beginning on or after Monday, June 15, crews will apply a high-visibility coating to the concrete dividers in the center medians and adjacent curbs. The treatment is designed to improve the visibility of the dividers and help them stand out from the surrounding pavement.
The work will be completed in four phases, with each phase expected to take three to four days.
During the construction:
- Two lanes of Lloyd traffic will remain open in each direction at all times.
- The work zone speed limit will be 40 mph.
- Traffic pattern changes will not occur during peak rush-hour periods.
In addition to temporary lane closures, motorists should be aware of the following restrictions:
- During the first two phases, right turns from westbound Lloyd to northbound Stockwell Road will not be permitted.
- During the second phase, the right-turn lane from southbound Stockwell Road to westbound Lloyd will be closed. Division Street will remain open for westbound traffic.
- During the third phase, the U-turn (Boulevard Left Turn) from westbound Lloyd to southbound Stockwell Road will be closed. Motorists should be aware that the U-turn closure will occur only after work on Burkhardt is completed.
Also, to maximize productivity, crews will alternate between Stockwell and the center median of Epworth Road for treatment there. No major turn restrictions are expected at this stage.
First phase
On or after Monday, June 15
- Closure, one outside lane on westbound Lloyd
- Closure, one lane of the Displaced Left Turn from eastbound Lloyd to northbound Stockwell.
- Closure, right-turn lane from westbound Lloyd to northbound Stockwell Road. Right turns to Stockwell would be prohibited.
Second phase
- Closure, one outside lane on westbound Lloyd
- Closure, one inside lane of the Displaced Left Turn from eastbound Lloyd to northbound Stockwell.
- Closure, right-turn lane from westbound Lloyd to northbound Stockwell Road. Right turns to Stockwell would be prohibited.
- Closure, slip lane from southbound Stockwell Road to westbound Lloyd.
Third phase
- Closure, one inside lane on westbound Lloyd
- Closure, one inside lane on eastbound Lloyd
- Closure, one outside lane of the Displaced Left Turn from eastbound Lloyd to northbound Stockwell
- Closure of the U-turn (or Boulevard Left Turn) from westbound Lloyd to southbound Stockwell Road. Motorists should be aware that the U-turn closure will occur only after work on Burkhardt is completed.
Fourth phase
- Closure, one inside lane on westbound Lloyd
- Closure, one inside lane on eastbound Lloyd
- Closure, one inside lane of the Displaced Left Turn from eastbound Lloyd to northbound Stockwell.
Note: Work will not begin if the weeklong forecast shows inclement weather.
