West Side projects reach final phase of work, median U-turns opening
West Side motorists should be prepared for a shift in travel lanes. Westbound traffic will use the far north lane, and eastbound traffic will use the far south lane to accommodate construction of medians and turn lanes. Work to prepare for the shift will begin on or after Monday, August 10 with the transition happening later in the week. The lane shifts occur just after Posey County Line Road and again just east of Red Bank Road. Be alert and watch for signs indicating the change.
The timing is weather dependent.
Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane starting after Posey County Line Road; the crossover junction is between Schnucks Commercial Drive and Rosenberger Avenue.
As part of this final phase of work, there will be several impacted intersections: Schutte, Felstead, Middle Mt. Vernon and McDowell roads. Motorists should follow posted detours signs and be prepared to use Median U-turn/Reduced Conflict Intersections.

- Left turn restrictions will be in place at Red Bank Road and the Lloyd
- Temporary message boards and other guidance will be put into place to direct traffic and announce restrictions
- Obey construction zone speed limits and be aware of new patterns
