Pedestrian Bridge replacement will require six-hour Lloyd Expressway closure overnight; follow detours
The Lloyd Expressway will close for six hours overnight to remove the pedestrian walkway just west of St. Joseph Avenue.
The closure runs from 11 p.m. Monday, October 20 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 21 and impacts all lanes in both east and west directions.
Drivers should follow posted signage and slow their speed while following the short detour routes.
Detour for westbound: Turn north on St. Joseph Avenue, west on West Franklin Street then south on Lemcke Avenue back to the Lloyd Detour for eastbound: Turn south on Barker Avenue, then east on Ray Becker Parkway back to the Lloyd The demolition of ramps began earlier this week.
The nearly 117-foot-long structure dates back to 1957.
The new 177-foot replacement bridge should be in place by summer 2026.
