Pedestrian Bridge replacement will require six-hour Lloyd Expressway closure overnight; follow detours

All lanes of the Lloyd Expressway will close overnight between Barker Avenue and St. Joseph Avenue/Ray Becker Parkway to allow construction crews to lift the new pedestrian bridge into place.

The closure, which is weather dependent, would begin at 11 p.m. Thursday, July 9, and wrap up by 5 a.m. Friday, July 10. The closure impacts eastbound and westbound traffic.

Plan ahead and use these detours:

Westbound Lloyd: turn north to St. Joseph Avenue, west to West Franklin Street, south to Lemcke Avenue and then west to re-enter Lloyd.

Eastbound Lloyd: travel south to South Barker Avenue, east to Ray Becker Parkway and then east to re-enter Lloyd.

The original 117-foot-long pedestrian walkway structure, which dated back to 1957, was removed in October 2025.

The location of the replacement bridge, which is 177 feet in length, will be in the same location east of Lemcke.
