Heads up, Evansville motorists! Beginning the first week of June, Lloyd4U crews will close the outside lane of eastbound State Road 62 between Posey County Line and Schutte Road. You might have noticed the construction signs and electronic billboards to alert everyone that work is about to be underway. During the first phase, known as shoulder strengthening, crews will reinforce the outside shoulder to make it strong enough to handle vehicles during future Lloyd4U traffic shifts. Each section of paving will occur in two-mile sections moving eastward towards Barker Avenue. This phase of work is expected to take approximately a month to complete, weather permitting.
Once work on the eastbound shoulder is complete, paving crews will move to the inside median. Once again, crews will prepare the pavement for future use and crossing traffic from one side of the facility to the other. That work is expected to take around 7 weeks.
Members of our project team attended Mayor Stephanie Terry’s Travelling City Hall Meeting at the University of Evansville earlier this month. The project team was able to meet with visitors and answer questions about the project’s innovative intersections. They also provided cards with a QR code to encourage people to sign up for email and text alerts.

Utility crews have been hard at work relocating sewer, water and gas lines along the east side projects of the Lloyd Expressway. Much of the sewer and water lines have been relocated with gas relocation expected to be complete by mid-summer. With utilities relocated, work will begin at the intersections of Vann Avenue and Stockwell road later this summer.
