INDOT issues early alert on weeklong intersection work at Burkhardt Road
The Indiana Department of Transportation has issued a traffic alert for pavement work in the middle of the Burkhardt Road and Lloyd Expressway intersection.
Starting on or after Monday, June 15, motorists should prepare for one week of significant restrictions at the intersection. All left turns at the intersection will be prohibited. There will also be no northbound or southbound through-movement on Burkhardt Road.
The restrictions are expected to last for approximately 7 days and are necessary to allow crews to upgrade aging pavement.
During the closure:
- Right turns permitted
- No left turns from the Lloyd to Burkhardt or Burkhardt to the Lloyd due to road surface work in the middle of the intersection
- No north/south through-movement on Burkhardt Road
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction for through traffic on the Lloyd.
Recommended detours for Burkhardt traffic include:
- Westbound traffic: Use Stockwell Road and the median U-turn
- Eastbound traffic: Use the I-69 cloverleaf and return to Burkhardt
Work will not begin if the weeklong forecast shows inclement weather.
During construction, be sure to:
✅ Plan ahead
✅ Allow extra time
✅ Stay alert in work zones
Your patience keeps everyone safe! Plan ahead by visiting INDOT TrafficWise or 511in.org to monitor conditions along the Lloyd.
